Classic Dublin rock band, Never Say Die, make their maiden voyage to Galway this weekend to appear live at Sally Longs. The band is committed to covering only classic songs, the kind you hear many attempt but fall short of, and has had some first-rate gigs around Dublin. This year, however, they are touring the country and this week's landmark Sally Longs' gig is a first for Galway. As drummer Baggio points out: "We always try to play as well as we can, no comfy zone playing, everyone going after it 100 per cent; it's the only way to do it and that's how people will always remember you.' Other band members include Niall (vocals), Simon (lead guitar), Paul (rhythm guitar), Brendan (bass guitar). Baggio is equipped with his mammoth drum kit affectionately dubbed 'le big red machine'. And there will be a few surprises in store for any 'Rush' fans, who converge on the city this weekend for the first Galway Rush fans convention. "We are all big Rush fans, so especially for this weekend, we've added a few extra Rush tracks, and maybe a drum solo, to our set-list," says Baggio. Never Say Die play live in Sally Longs this Friday 16 May. |
