The shores of Lough Mask are set for an influx of music fans this summer, when the Moondance Music and Arts Festival hits Petersburg House in Clonbur from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 August. Headliners already announced for the festival include Jape, Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club, Lisa Hannigan and many more. The festival is the brainchild of Pearse Doherty, founder of Go Go Go Event and Artist Management and former member of The Saw Doctors. "Galway is the birthplace of great festivals," says Pearse, “The city’s recent hosting of the Volvo Ocean Race is a reminder of how naturally we take to festival and party organising. “Moondance is about providing a platform for up and coming musicians and artists from the West of Ireland as well as creating an event that appeals to all age groups. I want it to have a real Galway feel where everyone participates.” A family-friendly festival, Moondance is offering arts workshops, yoga, theatre performance, storytelling, stand-up comedy, art exhibitions and the return of the infamous fancy dress Mask Ball (with music by the magnificent Kila). There are plenty of adventure activities also, such as canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing or guided walks onsite. With festival numbers limited to 2000, individual weekend tickets are €115 while family weekend tickets (2 Adults + 3 Kids (u18)) are €320. These include free camping and free parking. Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.ie, all Ticketmaster Outlets and 24 hour Ticketmaster Hotline 0818 719 300. For all info, go to www.moondancefestival.com. |
