AHHH, summer festivals. Line-ups coming in thick and heavy and Mantua is no exception. After a typically laidback launch party in the Bierhaus last week, the provisional line-up for the three day August funfest in Ballinagare Co. Roscommon has been announced and this year's get-together promises to be an entertaining affair with a wide and varied line-up of bands, live acts and DJs playing all styles from reggae to electronica and rockabilly to dubstep.

There's a refreshing local edge to the festival again this year with plenty of top quality Irish promoters, bands and artists, such as Rootical Soundsystem, Super Extra Bonus Party, Choice Cuts, Jinx Lennon, Ham Sandwich, Jung Turks and many more on each stage. But a quick look at the headliners this year shows how far the Mantua guys have come since their humble beginnings.

Among those confirmed for this year's long weekend are Icelandic seven-piece Mum whose sublime take on haunting electronica will be one of the highlights; The Victorian English Gentlemens Club bring their warped joyful madcap rock swagger to the main stage; Flying Lotus and Daedelus take their hiphop and electronica sounds to the midlands, while other surefire weekend acts not to be missed include the souldrenched Build An Ark collective, the raw live funk of Poets of Rhythm and the heavy heavy dub stylings of the legendary Festus Coxsone.

All this and for the paltry fee of €85.50 (including camping) for a three day ticket. Proper value for money bizznizz and no mistake. Tickets available now from tickets.ie or your local independent music store. For all Mantua info, check www.mantuaproject.com or www.myspace.com/mantuafest.
