Pete Mullineaux and Alma de Toro will perform in the Freedom Cafe tomorrow, Thursday 11 September from 5pm. ![]() Pete Mullineaux. While Pete Mullineaux is well known on the poetry scene, this is a rare opportunity to hear him as a singer-songwriter. Pete played with London punk-rock band 'The Resisters', recording an album in 1979. He then went solo as Pete Zero, playing gigs from Glastonbury to Greenham Common, lining up alongside such luminaries as The Pogues. His single in support of CND, Disposables Tissues, won the City of London Poetry/Song Contest and since moving to Galway he's played solo music gigs around town. Pete's material mixes the personal and political with a quirky and sometimes zany comedy. After taking time off from live playing to work on some studio recordings, Sangre de Toro, now Alma de Toro, will be returning to performing live by playing a fully acoustic set of their songs stripped back to the basics. Admission is free. If you are interested in playing or require details, contact Anna Sorensdotter, Amnesty International, 2-3 Middle Street on 091-533637 or check out www.amnesty.ie. |
