With legions of fans who regularly attend the band's legendary live spectacles, Kíla bring their blistering live show into our living rooms with their special concert film, 'Once Upon A Time', which will have its world premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh on Friday 11 July and then go on sale on DVD nationwide on Saturday 12 July. ![]() With music on film a theme of this year's Fleadh, 'Once Upon A Time' will be shown – alongside other legendary concert films, such as 'The Last Waltz', 'Rattle And Hum' and Sigur Ros' 'Heima'- at 10pm in Eyre Square on Friday 11 July. Members of the band, friends and fans will gather for this free screening not to be missed by Galway music lovers. Filmed live in Vicar Street, Dublin, 'Once Upon A Time' sees Kíla give their trademark engaging, energetic and enthralling performance combined with a visually breathtaking backdrop. Likened by Hot Press editor Niall Stokes to 'An Irish 'Stop Making Sense'. Magnificent!', the concert film is jam packed with sights and sounds to delight, such as silk trapeze artists flying through the air and burlesque dancers on stage while the band moves the crowd with their eclectic blend of Gaelic poetry, traditional folk instruments and irrepressible dance-floor beats. Their stunning film has already attracted serious accolades; indeed writer Pat McCabe (Butcher Boy, Breakfast on Pluto) was so blown away with the film that he wrote the liner notes for the DVD where he called the performance 'a James Joyce ballet, an astonishing composition of light, movement and sound'. 'Once Upon A Time' will receive its World Wide Premiere at the 20th Galway Film Fleadh on Friday 11 July 2008. |
