Andy Irvine and the Wise Family Band will play upstairs at The Crane Bar on Sea Road this Monday, 23 July.

Musician, singer and songwriter, Andy Irvine has maintained both personal integrity and highly individual performing skills throughout his 40-year career.

From Sweeney's Men in the mid sixties to the enormous success of Planxty in the 70s, to the Irish super group, Patrick Street, in the 80s, Andy has been a world music pioneer and icon for traditional music and musicians. A couple of years ago, while on an extensive tour of Australia, he met with the Wise Family Band. As a fan of world music, Andy was immediately impressed with the musicality and all around talent of this Australian family band.

The Wise Family Band from Margaret River in Western Australia, three daughters Ruth, Lucy and Rowena with father Scott and mother Louisa, bring a selection of reels, rags, gospel, blues and traditional Scottish, English and Irish songs and tunes in a refreshingly new yet familiar way to their Irish audience.

Five voices in harmony, four fiddle players, guitar, mandolin and slide guitar combine to charm. Tickets, ?22.50/?20, are available from The Crane Bar. Doors open at 9pm.
