To mark Fair Trade Fortnight, which began on Monday, the EYE Cinema, Wellpark will be showing the documentary Black Gold, an eye-opening expose of the multi-billion dollar coffee industry following one man's fight for a fair price.

The film will play on Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 March at 7.30pm.

One of the main events taking place in Galway this year is 'Just Desserts' a competition where chefs and bakers are competing with desserts made with fairly traded ingredients. The finals of this event take place in the Galway City Museum on Friday 7 March at 6.30pm.

Galway became a Fair Trade City at the end of 2005 and has a permanent committee that takes action throughout the year. For further info go to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
