The Knocknacarra based drama group KATS has selected Arthur Miller's play 'All My Sons' for the upcoming all Ireland drama festival. The festival, which is run under the auspices of the Amateur Drama Council of Ireland, is held in April and is one of the premier events of its kind in Europe. 'All My Sons' is directed by Paddy Henry. It will run in An Taibhdhearc Theatre from Monday 19 February until Saturday 24 February. The play, which is regarded as the first of Miller's major works, tells of the fortunes of the Keller and Deever families. It revolves around a domineering father figure, Joe Keller, who knowingly sold faulty parts to the US Military during World War II. Miller examines the morality of the man, who places his narrow responsibility to his immediate family above his wider responsibility to the men who rely on the integrity of his work. 'All My Sons' is a thought provoking, superbly written play, exploring the shallowness of the American Dream, the illusions upon which that dream is built and, in a wider context, the greed and capitalism that grips many. The all Ireland winning group KATS have enjoyed considerable success under the veteran directorship of Paddy Henry and are hopeful to succeed on the drama festival circuit again this year. There will be a preview of the play on Monday 19 February at 8pm. Tickets are priced at €10. From Tuesday 20 February to Saturday 24 February the start time is 8pm. Tickets are priced at €16 or €14 with a concession. Group rates are available. For bookings and for more information, phone 091-562024. |
