David Lyttle and Jean Toussaint will play De Burgos on Sunday 21 September at 9pm. ![]() Known for his passionate and driving approach to jazz that swings hard, 24-year-old drummer David Lyttle has quickly become one of this island's most acclaimed performers. He has worked with internationally renowned musicians such as Greg Osby, Dave Liebman, Jacqui Dankworth, Jamie Baum and Louis Stewart, with recent performances in New York, Toronto, the UK and Eastern Europe. Since 2007, Lyttle has been developing his on-going collaboration with US saxophone giant Jean Toussaint, who played an important role in Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, during the eighties. Based in London since 1987, Toussaint's performing credits include notables such as McCoy Tyner, Wynton Marsalis, Kenny Kirkland, Gary Bartz, Cedar Walton, Roy Ayers, Terence Blanchard, Kenny Garrett, Max Roach and Horace Silver. Completing the trio is London-based US bass colossus Michael Janisch, who has worked with Joe Lovano, Roy Hargrove, Shirley Horn, Clark Terry, George Garazone; and in the UK with Julian Joseph, Gary Husband and Soweto Kinch, among many others.
