One of North London's finest musical exports, 'Just Jack' is coming to play out the final night at The Fold at The GPO on Saturday 8 December. Jack, who is neither bound by musical restrictions nor the notional idea of cool, has taken the sum of his individual influences and turned them into a unique, genre-hopping, jump-up album - the hook-laden, space-disco odyssey 'Overtones'. Jack enrolled on a community music production course, which heightened his awareness to the potential of sampling. This inspired Jack to concentrate on perfecting his sound by night and to take on a series of unfulfilling jobs by day. Jack's debut album, titled 'The Outer Marker', released in 2002, was a collection of songs about modern life, relationships and the pressures of social situations. Originally released by the independent label RGR Records, the album received fantastic reviews despite criticism of his lyrics. Although his big break was in 2002, he didn't gain fame until 2007, following his TV debut on BBC2's 'Later with Jools Holland', and then on the Channel 4 show 'The Friday Night Project', where he performed the single 'Starz In Their Eyes'. This reached No.2 in the UK charts. The following three singles didn't make the top 50. Tickets for Just Jack are €12 and are available on the door, which opens at 11pm. |
