The Galway music scene is home to a broad and varied range and mix of musical tastes.

Local band The Kanyu Tree, a three-piece Irish band comprising the Cluskey brothers - Daniel (guitar and vocals), Shane (drums and lead vocals) and Oisín (bass and vocals) - has been in operation since mid 2006, and their original music is fast grabbing the attention of the city.

Described by Hotpress as dealing in some of the most exquisite harmony vocals since the Bee Gees, they have received rave reviews in prestigious venues throughout Ireland - The Róisín Dubh, Cypress Avenue, Trinity Rooms, The Olympia, Dolan's Warehouse and The Spring and Airbrake Club. Last year, they headlined the Féile Beo Festival, Kerry along with being selected for the IMRO Showcase Tour.

Since they began gigging, The Kanyu Tree has played many headliners and also shared the stage with some top Irish acts, such as The Stunning, The Saw Doctors, The Blizzards and The Republic of Loose, and various international acts, including The Bluetones and I'm From Barcelona.

They will play in the Róisín Dubh on Friday 23 May at 9pm. Admission to this gig is free.
