Page 1 of 2 Lisa Regan talks Ronan from the Delorentos about career highs and lows, playing while standing up and the importance of brushing your teeth. Is this your first time performing in Galway? We've actually played in Galway quite a few times in our short career. ![]() How do you find performing in Galway? We played one of our first shows in the Róisín Dubh. The gentleman who runs the establishment was one of our first real supporters and we love coming to play there. It's like visiting family; the audience is as excitable as we are and that makes for great nights. We also supported Bell X1 in the Big Top last summer, which was a good experience, nice weather and everything. How does performing in Galway differ from other performances? Galway is a great place to come to because there's always something happening, not that there isn't stuff happening all over the country all the time, but the stuff that's happening in Galway is usually more exciting and there's more of it. Of course it's strongly associated with music and culture and there's always a buzz. It's definitely a bit special. Can you tell us a bit about the show? Basically we attempt to play instruments and sing, all while standing up. 'Impossible!!!' I hear you cry and yes, it is difficult, but we're getting better. What have you been up to until now? We've spent the last year finishing writing and recording our debut album 'In Love with Detail' and now we're just enjoying getting around and playing the songs for people. The response to the album has been really good, thankfully. It's nice that people get where we're coming from. What was the highlight of the last year? This year has been really good to Delorentos. We've been able to play in exotic places, like London, New York, Texas and Tuscany and, even though none of these places are actually exotic, they were still great. We were blown away by great crowds at the Oxegen and Electric Picnic festivals this summer and obviously we're really proud to have made our first record. So, I'm delighted to say it's too difficult to pick just one highlight. What are your plans for the year ahead? We're getting back into writing mode now, so working on new stuff is definitely on the agenda. We're releasing a new EP, the 'Do you Realise?' EP next month and we'll be playing some gigs for that, as you know. We'll be spreading Delorentos epidemic outside of Éire, of course, too. |
