The spring programme at Coole Park is a mixed bag this year. A huge variety of events are planned, from visitor centre activities to include a guided tour of a new exhibition with Hilda MacLochlainn, a screening of a selection of Fionn science project DVDs, to the nature reserve activities that will incorporate a preparatory talk in a visitor centre followed by field trips in Coole Nature reserve with Gordon D'Arcy, Éanna Ní Lamhna and Dolores Keegan. A series of drama workshops will be in operation with 'The Ark Comes To Coole Park' running from 9,12,18 and 19 January from 10am to 2pm daily, and an Archives Resource Box Workshop from 24 to 25 January from 10am to 2pm. 'The Cups And Crowns Educational Theatre company' will run on 23, 31 and 1 February from 10am to 2pm. A new edition to the timetable is a 'Writers in Residence in Schools', John Quinn and Terry MacDonagh will conduct a series of eight creative writing workshops. The National Parks and Wildlife Service as the principal partner, continues its commitment to the Coole Spring Programme, opening and staffing the venue and providing additional support for the educational programme. As part of the Spring Programme, the NPWS lecture series covers a range of topics including, marine life, farming and conservation, ecology and habitats. |
