"Bodhran" - Lorraine Fletcher.

An exhibition of watercolours and oils titled 'Hands On' by up and coming artist Lorraine Fletcher will run until Wednesday 30 April in the Galway City Museum.

Lorraine has been playing the fiddle from the age of nine and music has played a major role in her life.

The focus on hands as a theme in her artwork is a reflection of her musical life. To play any instrument we need our hands. Each instrument is distinct in terms of how they are played, the diverse sounds that they produce and the unique skills required to make the music.

Lorraine's inspiration for this exhibition comes purely from her love of traditional Irish music. She feels every musician has their own style and way of playing their instrument and her paintings definitely capture this.

Lorraine has been painting from childhood and over the last five years has received many commissions. Her main objective was to have an exhibition in Galway where she has lived for the past three years.

All are welcome to attend.
