![]() Anna Faulkner and Ivan Murray. The Freedom Café at the Amnesty International shop on Middle Street hosts Sara Gerdine and two-piece Anna Faulkner and Ivan Murray along with guests on Thursday 24 April at 5pm. German-born fiddle player Anna Faulkner and singer/songwriter/guitarist Ivan Murray will perform original and traditional songs and tunes, both Irish and American. Special guests will include Lena Ullman and Alan Walsh on four-and five-string banjo. Anna has been described as an 'excellent exponent of traditional Irish fiddle playing' and an 'ambassador for what is best in Irish traditional music'. She is a founding member of Galway-based five-piece The Rye, whose music has been praised for its expert traditional playing by Mike Farragher of The Irish Voice, NYC. Ivan has enjoyed a long career in the music industry, both as a gifted performer and as recording studio engineer. Moving back to Ireland from London in 2002, Ivan formed 'The Scars', a three piece, specialising in short sharp shocks of original punk rock 'n' roll. Since moving to Galway in 2004, Ivan has toured extensively with 'The Scars' and new electronica outfit 'X¬–Klima'. If you are interested in playing or require details, contact Anna Sorensdotter, Amnesty International, 2-3 Middle Street on 091-533637 or check out www.amnesty.ie. |
