Underground music of all genres keeps on keeping on in Galway, and any club nights that can hold its own and keep putting on quality music in the current climate deserve a hearty pat on the back.

Down and dirty bass and beats merchants Get Low celebrate their first birthday this weekend and, to mark the occasion, they are hosting a night of dubstep at An Púcán, featuring many local and national guests DJs and producers/live acts, as well as the main man for the evening, Rob Smith.

Leftfield music lovers will best know Smith as an integral member of beats/drum and bass acts Smith & Mighty (who released the seminal 'Bass Is Maternal' album in 1995) and More Rockers.

The Bristol based DJ/producer has moved from breakbeat to the dubstep genre and will surely have local ravers smiling and dancing at this birthday bash.

Support will be provided by DubCulture's own Colz and Crysis, laying down the latest in dubstep beats and some new ones from the upcoming label DubCulture.

Major Grave will also be making an appearance to rattle the subs with one of his highly refined laptop sets and SubOne will be warming back to back with Konspiracy early in the evening. There's even free food available (for veggies too!) on the night as a thank you to from the Get Low crew for all your support over the past year.

Get Low's first birthday bash takes place at An Púcán/The Junction, Forster Street on Saturday 13 September. Doors open from 10pm, with admission €10.
