Harry Potter mania will seize Eason’s Bookstore on Shop Street, Galway on Friday night 27 July for the special midnight opening of the store for the launch of the sale of the final volume in the record breaking series. In what is indisputably the most anticipated and biggest book sale launch to take place ever in Galway, up to 1,500 dedicated fans of the series are expected to descend on Shop Street as the seventh and final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, goes on sale at midnight.

However, fans intending to join what will be a lengthy queue should be aware that access will be restricted to official invitation holders only and these permits can be picked up from the customer care service desk at Eason’s bookstore at anytime right up to close of regular business at 8pm on Friday evening.

Some 1,500 invitations have been printed and are being given out on a first come first serve basis and are all expected to be snapped up.

To mark the unprecedented interest, Eason’s in Galway are giving a limited number of books free on the night and the first person in the queue will also be the lucky recipient of a J. K. Rowling personally signed Harry Potter bookplate. Furthermore, the eagerly awaited book will also be sold at half-price to all customers.

“This is by far the biggest launch of a book we have ever had in Galway. We have made this invitation only as we are conscious of the huge interest in this book and the fact that it is going on sale in the middle of Galway Arts Week,” said Eason’s, Galway Books Buyer Linda Staunton.

“We had a midnight sale for the last Harry Potter book but not for any other and this one is going to beat all records. We have a stock of 3,500 books in store but I expect that we will go beyond that in time and certainly expect to sell up to 2,500 over the weekend,” concluded Linda.
