Page 1 of 2 Irish actress Amy Huberamn is probably best known as Brian O’Driscoll’s other half. However, TV addicts will know her from her role as ‘Daisy’ in RTÉ’s The Clinic, while Galway audiences are set to know her a little better as two of her films, ‘Satellites + Meteorites’ and ‘A Film With Me In It’, feature as part of this year’s film fleadh. Lisa Regan talks to Amy about the return of The Clinic, the importance of the fleadh and her plans for the future.
How did you first become interested/involved in acting? I did it as a kid and got more into it in UCD when I joined the drama society. It led from there. You’re probably best known for your role as Daisy in ‘The Clinic’. What a super show; will Daisy and the Clinic be back? Also, did you enjoy playing this role? We're in the middle of filming season six, so it will be back for sure! I love doing The Clinic; it’s fun, and Daisy is great, people relate to her. She's easy to like, caring, and has a good sense of humour. There is a lot of change coming up this year, so keep an eye on the show! Is this your first time at Galway Film Fleadh? No, I've been down before; I love Galway! This is the first year I've had a film here and I'm especially lucky since I have two: ‘Satellites & Meteorites’ and ‘A Film With Me In It’, so I'm really looking forward to attending the screenings and seeing how the audiences react. I'm really proud of both films and I think they will both be well received. Are you looking forward to this year’s line-up? What interests you most in the festival programme? Well obviously my own films! Seriously though, there is a great line-up at the Fleadh, from home and abroad. I'm hoping to get along to see 'Alarm' by Gerry Stembridge. It stars a good friend of mine and is meant to be excellent.
