Simon Aspell will join Galway's ConTempo Quartet at NUIG's Aula Maxima on Friday 9 February for an evening of Mozart and Beethoven to celebrate Emily Anderson. Emily Anderson, who was the daughter of the president of the university, grew up in the Quadrangle of NUI, Galway. She translated the complete correspondence between Mozart and Beethoven into English, allowing music scholars and music lovers the world over to gain great insight into the composers' lives. Simon Aspell studied at The Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff, as a junior, and at The Royal Academy of Music (RAM), London as an under-graduate. He has performed as a soloist and appeared with some of the world's finest ensembles. This is ConTempo's first concert in Ireland after their return from a successful tour in Italy, where they performed string octets along with the RTÉ Vanbrugh Quartet. Tickets for this concert, which are priced at €18, €14 to members and €5 for students, are available from Mulligan records, Middle street.
