Galway's largest and longest-running session for students will be five years old this September. Dusty Banjos started in the Crane bar in September 2002 with three or four regulars, and is now a busy and varied affair, with musicians from every corner of the world passing through.

The regulars have become so good that a new beginners' session was called for, and so ‘Dusty Banjos Beag’ began in February of this year. There's also an Ennis branch, which celebrated its first birthday in June.

All three groups, plus local musicians and friends will be getting together for a lively night of music to celebrate on Monday, 10 September. The event starts at 9pm. It's an open session as always and all are welcome - bring your instruments and friends!

Community Music Crew and the Galway Film Centre are making a documentary about the group, and will be filming on the night. For information email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
