![]() Ben Hurley This week, the Róisín Dubh presents a triple bill of comedy with Mickey D, Ben Hurley and Damien Clarke all taking to the stage. A native of New Zealand, Ben Hurley has claimed two of the country's biggest comedy awards for his 'political and irreverent' storytelling. After only four gigs, Hurley was let onto New Zealand TV screens on the award-winning stand up show Pulp Comedy, winning the Best New Face award. Since then he has headlined three national tours of New Zealand, performed to huge crowds on the university circuit and been in development for his own TV sketch show. Australian Mickey D, winner of the Best Comedy Award at this year's Adelaide International Festival, has been described as "a loud demonstrative Australian with a masterful command of his audience and a quick wit". Since storming the Adelaide Fringe and Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2000, Mickey D has performed across the UK, throughout Europe and the States and acquired an impressive list of TV and radio credits. Fellow Australian Damien Clarke, with his enthusiastic and consistently energetic storytelling, completes this week's antipodean line-up. There will be an open spot from Dan O'Shea and the show will be followed by DJ Monty until late. The show kicks off at 9pm and tickets are €12, although comedy fans with a Laughter Lounge voucher will receive admission for €7.50 before 9.30pm. |
