Dead Monkey started in Liverpool way back in 1998, going from strength to strength showcasing new original bands and vinyl DJs. The free entry door policy and wide range of musical styles has always proved to be very popular with musicians and punters alike. Run by the band VAMOS who moved to Galway in 2004, Dead Monkey presented well attended shows in Sally Long's for a couple of years, regularly bringing bands over from their native Liverpool and from other cities across Ireland. Now in its tenth year Dead Monkey returns on Thursday 13 March in The Cellar Bar. The first night will feature solely local talent with national and international bands ear marked for future events. Performing on the night will be three piece dirty, raucous and roll band 'Vamos', Galway's loud and lively grunge rockers 'Just', double drummist driven heavy rock band 'Burma Shave', comedy from up and coming ginger funny man Sean Sheridan alongside indie, rock, punk and reggae tunes played on real records by Vamos and Just DJs. As always admission is free and doors open at 9pm with music going on until 2am.
