Lunchtime with ConTempo, a free concert series launched last year, will continue for 2008. Introduced last year by ConTempo String Quartet, Galway ensemble-in-residence, the concerts have gained a loyal following with Galwegians.

Lunchtime with ConTempo will be held on Tuesday 5 February at 1.10pm at The Kenny Gallery, High Street, Galway.

ConTempo invite all to join them in their celebration of this year's theme, Beethoven's string quartets. Each month ConTempo will play one of Beethoven's quartets and also present a brief discussion of the music, making it accessible and meaningful for all.

This format offers a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy learning about music and to hear one of the world's finest string quartets.

ConTempo will play one of Beethoven's first quartets, String Quartet in F major, Op 18, No 1. This work is widely known as the Romeo and Juliet quartet, as the adagio is said to be influenced by the burial scene from Shakespeare's play.
