![]() The Circus Christmas Extravaganza takes place tomorrow, Thursday 20 December, at 6pm in St Joseph's Community Centre, Shantalla. After a successful 2007 for Ireland's only youth circus Karin Wimmer project Manager says 'Traffic', a show created and performed by seven young members, was one of the highlights of the International Youth Circus Festival held in Berlin earlier this year. "We're so proud of our young members. As well as taking part in our first international youth exchange they have also been dedicated to promoting the idea of youth circus activities by taking part in RTÉ's Kidspeak, which filmed individual members talking about and demonstrating their favourite circus tricks," she said. "RTE's Kazoo filmed a documentary about Galway Circus Projects classes on Wednesday 12 December. It's invaluable publicity not only for our organisation but also for the promotion of circus skills in general. These skills have many benefits. Not only do they encourage children to be active but they also aid concentration and build confidence" Each year Galway Circus project holds a Christmas show, which showcases talent from the Sorcas Beag class. This year's UV light show promises an exciting mix of circus skills presented in a highly visual style. "This is a perfect time for those interested in joining next terms classes to get a taste of what we offer. It's also the perfect time to celebrate all our achievements this year and thank all the members who assisted," said Karin.
