There's party vibes floating in the air around The Cellar Underground as two of Galway's underground promoters come together for a Christmas Weekender on the weekend before Christmas. Guest DJs Donal Dineen and Fish Go Deep call in to the basement Eglinton Street venue on consecutive nights.

Local electronica night Lowerstate – who celebrate their first birthday this December after a year in which they brought the likes of Donncha Costello, Yapacc and Pantha Du Prince to Galway – bring the genial Dineen west for an all-night DJ set on Friday 19 December.

Donal Dineen's influence on Irish musical tastebuds is immeasurable as many people would have grown with him from his early No Disco TV show days to his current late night radio slot on Today FM, where he eschews formulaic pop music and instead promotes new underground music of all genres, tipping heavily towards electronica and dancefloor grooves.

The second part of The Cellar Christmas Weekender takes place the following night, Saturday 20 December when local house deviants Disconauts throw their festive season party featuring a guest DJ set from the legendary Greg Dowling and Shane Johnson, aka Fishgodeep.

Tickets for both nights are €10 and can be bought in advance from The Cellar Bar. Phone 091-563966.
