Music for Galway in association with Galway Early Music Festival presents I Furiosi in the Meyrick Ballroom, Eyre Square on Friday 16 May at 8pm. ![]() I Furiosi presents a programme unleashing of the gay and the not-so-gay Baroque. Come remember a time when men in tights and wigs were everywhere. This concert features works by Handel, Geminiani, Dowland and more. Thriving on the 'bizarre and unnatural' aesthetic of the Baroque era, I Furiosi showcases a wide range of repertoire in dramatically themed production. Their edgy performing style and challenging programmes have appealed to the public well beyond the 'traditional' music audience. Their concerts are attended regularly by younger listeners and those who might normally avoid classical music. The concert will be followed by Galway's first Classical Club. Immediately after the concert, Ba-rock DJ will 'spin' some of your favourite early music CDs. This is a festival club with a difference. Stay in the ballroom and enjoy a post concert drink and chat with fellow music enthusiasts and the performers. Tickets, €18/€14/€7, are available from Opus II, St Augustine Street, Galway or at door. |
