Renowned poets Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill and Celeste Augé will read from their work at Carraroe Library on Friday 18 January at 7pm. Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill was born in Lancashire in 1952, of Irish parents, and was brought up in the Dingle Gaeltacht and in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary. Her collections include An Dealg Droighin (Mercier Press 1981); Rogha Dánta/Selected Poems (translated by Michael Hartnett) Raven Arts Press, 1986; The Astrakhan Cloak (with translations by Paul Muldoon, The Gallery Press, 1992); The Water Horse (with translations by Medbh McGuckian and Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin, The Gallery Press, 1999/Wake Forest University Press, 2000) and The Fifty Minute Mermaid (with translations by Paul Muldoon, The Gallery Press, 2007). She has written plays for children and her prose includes Selected Essays (Dublin, New Island Books, 2005). She is a member of Aosdána, and lives in Co. Dublin. Celeste Augé was born in Canada, but moved to Galway when she was 12 years old. Her poems have appeared in a wide variety of literary journals. She has read her work as part of Poetry Ireland's Introductions and also at the Cuirt Festival/Over The Edge showcase reading in 2006. In 2006, she was awarded the Publication Assistance Grant by Galway County Council. Tornadoes For The Weathergirl, a chapbook of her poems, was published in 2007.
