The Comedy Club at Cuba* in association with Ted Fest 08 presents a very special night of fun, frolics, fashion and style at Cuba* this Sunday, 20 January. ![]() Fans of the sitcom will be well aware of the 'Lovely Girls' competition held in the parochial hall on Craggy Island and on Sunday a host of beauties will be put through their paces, all bidding for a chance to appear at the Grande Final, which will take place during Ted Fest on the Aran Islands in late February. The girls will be judged on dress sense, how they navigate the road cone walk and, of course they're lovely laugh and a short interview to determine their 'loveliness'. Following the Lovely Girls competition, the regional heat of the 'Toilet Duck' award for emerging comedians will take place. Six aspiring comics will each perform a ten-minute set with a judging panel and audience members deciding on the night who goes forward to the final on the Island in February. The eventual winner will receive a €1,000 cash prize and a support slot at the prestigious Galway Comedy Festival, which takes place over the Easter weekend. Special guest on the night will be last year's 'Toilet Duck' winner, Sharron Mannion, who has now gone on to become a regular and popular face on the Irish and UK circuit. Gerry Mallon will be the evening's host and MC. Come dressed as your favourite 'Fr Ted' character and be in with an opportunity to win free tickets to see PJ Gallagher, who will be performing at the Galway Comedy festival this year.
