![]() Boy Soldier, based on the story of John Condon, the youngest allied soldier killed in the First World War and a native of Ballybricken, Waterford, will run at the Town Hall Theatre from Wednesday 26 to Saturday 29 March at 8pm. John Condon was just 14 years of age when he was killed during the second battle of Ypres on 24 May 1915, the first time gas was used in warfare. This dramatic piece of theatre tells the story of many of the Irishmen who fought and died alongside him and have largely been forgotten in the annals of history, giving them and their story a voice once more. Using projected images and war-time footage alongside physical and evocative performances, this 80-minute theatrical presentation uses a local story to tell a story of universal relevance, a story that speaks for every Irish town, a story told in a highly imaginative, challenging and stimulating style, a story for today. Tickets, €18, are available from 091-569777. |
