Bethlemayhem 09, a night featuring some of Galway's best local and new indie bands, takes place on Wednesday, 23 December upstairs in the Róisín Dubh, featuring A Silver Mount Burren, So Cow, Local Living Guy, Rural Savage and Declan Q Kelly. ![]() Headlining on the night will be A Silver Mount Burren, a noise rock improv collective comprised of Brian (So Cow/Local Living Guy), Kieran (Local Living Guy), Jimmy (Music for Dead Birds), Laura (Local Living Guy/Rural Savage) and Declan (DeclanQKelly). Expect krautrock keyboard melodies, two noisy drummers, repetitive basslines and screeching guitar. Local Living Guy is the project of Shantalla local/Edinburgh-based Kieran Curran, who will be playing noisy indiepop tunes with an air of skewed romanticism. His favourite phrase as of late is "peace out". He enjoys tea, distortion pedals, jumpers and an occasional iron mike. And playing with Brian and Laura. So Cow is Tuam's finest indiepop sensation Brian Kelly, fresh from his recent European tour. Having graced the same stage as Jeff Lewis, Deerhoof, Dreamdate and Ted Leo and sneaked quietly into musiclovers subconscious with his wonderful album earlier this year So Cow has played all over Ireland and parts of Britain, toured the US and Canada, and is big in South Korea. Rural Savage is Northern Lightning Racket from handsome hillbilly winos; cack-handed spiritual cacophany of the most selfish kind. Galway local and Dublin-based Declan Q Kelly plays atmospheric dream-pop music to eat sour sweets to and sadly laments the demise of Apple Jacks. It's a value for no money show as the night is a free gig and music kicks off at 8pm. |
