The wonderful and award winning productions 'Happy Days' and 'Stones in His Pockets' open at the Town Hall Theatre next week. Argentinean theatre company La Compania first staged Samuel Beckett's 'Happy Days' in its original English version to huge critical acclaim in Argentina in 1998. Ten years on, the members of La Compania felt the professional experience they had gained during that time warranted a revival of 'Happy Days', which reopened at the 2008 Beckett Festival in Buenos Aires with great success both from public and critic. 'Stones in His Pockets' is also an award-winning comedy/drama, which is set in a quiet rural town in County Kerry, which is overrun by a Hollywood film crew. The play has won many awards in the past, including the Irish Times/ESB Irish Theatre Award for Best Production in 1999, two Olivier Awards in 2001 for Best New Comedy and Best Actor as well as being nominated for three Tony Awards in 2001. Samuel Beckett's 'Happy Days' plays at the Town Hall Theatre for one night only this Friday 25 September and tickets are €20/€18. 'Stones in His Pockets' runs in the Town Hall Theatre from Monday 28 September until Saturday 3 October and tickets are €22/€18. Tickets for both shows are available for booking now from The Town Hall box office or from www.tht.ie. |
