Ireland's very own mini Sonar, the Dublin Electronic Music Festival, may be the place to be over the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend, but there are enough quality dancefloor beats – from hip-hop to house and electro to techno – reverberating around the clubs in Galway that same weekend to keep all local night-time revellers more than happy. On the Friday night Lowerstate welcome Parisian wunderkind Rone (whose tunes are being played by the likes of Laurent Garnier, Ellen Alien and James Holden) to their party in the confines of De Burgos. Rone's live experimental electronica will be ably supported by Audiofeen, while on the same night in Bar 903 them Dublin gurriers Bodytonic will be dropping the party tunes. The following night, Saturday 25, sees the GPO welcome back the man behind club classics such as 'Don't Laugh', 'Higher State Of Consciousness' and more recently, Josh Wink. Up the street in the Cellar Underground the local raving mafia 091 will be laying down nothing but the finest underground house and techno sounds while Bar 903 plays host to turntablist supreme and inspiration to Cut Chemist and DJ Shadow, the man like Steinski. |
