Musician, actor, songwriter, author and famed harmonica player, Don Baker is to host two intimate evenings of music and food at Glenlo Abbey Hotel next month. Baker is the Irish maestro of the Blues. Raised on Dublin’s Northside in the 1950s, he turned to music to escape the trappings of life in the inner city. He found his own soul in rhythm and blues. Don has toured all over the world for the past 40 years and has, so far, released eight albums. His latest project is a DVD due for release shortly. He has cultivated a magnificent twang unique to his own style and his fan base stretches both sides of the Atlantic and includes Bono, Mark Feltham and Rory Gallagher, who rate Don as the greatest acoustic harmonica player in the world. Although Don is labelled with the Blues title, he is much more than this. His songs and playing also have many other influences/styles. He is the only Irish musician to hold a residency in the Olympia Theatre. In conjunction with Glenlo Abbey Hotel, Don presents An Intimate Evening With Don Baker on Saturday 8 and Saturday 22 March. The evening will consist of a sumptuous meal followed by an acoustic show with Don. A limited number of tickets will be sold for this show in an effort to preserve the show as exclusive as possible. Tickets are €100 and are available from 091-526666. |
