Alternative rock band, The Alkove, play the main stage at Monroe’s Live on Saturday, 8 August.
The Alkove are an old-school Rock n Roll band, playing all original music. The five piece hail from Cork and have put their own cool spin on rock. They have just released their debut EP entitled “Now Or Never”. This EP consists of four original tracks including ‘Nobody Knows’ and ‘Come in out of the Rain’. The Alkove consists of lead man and award winning vocalist Eddie Kelly, brothers Alan and Andrew Kiely on guitars, Matt Twomey on bass, and Sean Devine banging the drums.
Originally a three piece, members Eddie, Alan and Andrew gigged in Cork city to road test some material. On the strength of these few performances, they were invited to play at Murphy’s Big Night Out in Cork in late 2013. Shortly afterwards, Matt and Sean joined up within a few weeks of each other in early 2014, to complete the group.
“These guys have a great sound with great original songs. Watch this space!” – Mick Cuddihy Mojo Rising, and event organiser. Doors are open at 9pm and entry is free.
