Allow ten minutes at the start of the exam to read through the paper completely.

Leave the Unseen Poetry Question until last. Answer the other questions in any order you choose. Start with your best question but resist the temptation to write over the time allocated for this question. A good start will give you confidence to tackle the remainder of the paper.

Section 2 Comparative Study (70 marks)

Answer 1 of 4 questions
Allow 60 minutes
Answer length: 3-5 pages approximately

Section 3 Poetry (70 marks)

Answer questions on the Unseen Poem
Answer 1 of 4 questions on a prescribed poet
Allow 60 minutes for this section.
Prescribed Poetry: 45 Minutes
Answer length: 3-4 pages approximately

Unseen poem: 15 minutes
Answer Length: 1 page approximately for 20 mark question; ½ page for 10 mark question

Allow 15 minutes at the end of the exam to check over your work.

And finally! It is not recommended that you attempt extra questions on either paper. Use your time to best advantage by planning the questions you are required to answer and checking back over your answers.
