An exhibition showcasing all that is great about the West – its arts scene, business sector, tourist attractions, heritage sites and more – will hit the capital in February 2015.
WestExpo will gather under one roof “all that is magnificent about Ireland’s West and provide visitors with an experience rich in culture, heritage and arts”. It will also draw attention to emerging and established businesses in the region and entice tourists to come West by showcasing the major attractions and tourist providers along the west coast.
The event, which was officially launched on Monday in Hotel Meyrick, will run on 21 and 22 February 2015 at the RDS Dublin.
Throughout the main hall of the RDS, stallholders will showcase their wares, while on a stage area there will be music, dance and song of the region. The expo will also include a ‘cookery demo’ area – where some of the best chefs in the West will prepare signature dishes from the West’s top restaurants.
The event is being organised by Gaeltacht communications firm, MeasMedia, with the support of Údarás na Gaeltachta.
MeasMedia MD Breandán Ó hEaghra said the event would “garner both national and international headlines”.
The weekend’s events will also include talks and seminars on topics relating to the West of Ireland, with key national figures debating issues of importance to the region. WestExpo Excellence Awards will be presented to businesses and organisations who are proven achievers in their field.
