Denim is perhaps the number one modern day wardrobe staple. I can’t think of a single person I know who doesn’t wear it in some shape or form. Denim is a trend that never wanes but now and again the basic classic is revamped into something special.
This season denim is anything but basic. Embellishment, patches and sequin covered denim were all seen on the catwalks for Spring/Summer 2015. The luxe sequin boyfriend jeans by Ashish was one of the stand out pieces in the collection. But if you’re not interested in paying around $1,500 for a pair, we have some great alternatives!
This kitsch, star spangled pair of boyfriend jeans by Stella McCartney are available from Brown Thomas and will brighten up any dull wardrobe moments. Wear with a white shirt and some heels for a cool street-style look or pair with Converse and a knit for cosy weekend style. Priced at €395, they’re not cheap but great denim will always stand the test of time.
If you’re a fan of the denim jacket, a cool denim duster might be a nice alternative this season. This one from Penneys is €30 and would look great with some printed trousers.
If you want a real catwalk look, DIY is always a good option. Find the right shape and colour jeans you want and embellish to your heart’s content! Hickeys have a good range of beads, buttons and sew on badges. Add diamante to the ends, pearls along the sides or patches all over for a funky bespoke style.
