The Galway Music Residency presents Spiccato Junction Revisited at 8pm tomorrow, Thursday 25 May, in the Town Hall Theatre. Ten years on from the original recording, the ConTempo Quartet comes together again with trad legends Máirtín O’Connor, Cathal Hayden and Garry O’Briain for a night of exhilarating fusion.
The concert will feature the musicians’ own unique mingling of Romanian folk dances, classical music and Irish trad tunes.
The original Spiccato Junction compositions are full of intensity and humour, with tunes such as ‘The Bachs of Oranmore’ and ‘Locatelli’s Trip to Lough Atalia’, and to honour the occasion of this reunion concert, the group have developed exciting new additions to their repertoire. Bustling with energy, ConTempo, O’Connor, O’Briain and Hayden perform with an enthusiasm that is truly infectious, making this rare collaborative event a must-see.
Tickets, €20/€18, are available on www.tht.ie or 091-569777. Due to high demand, early booking is advised. For further information, visit www.thegalwaymusicresidency.ie or call 091-586706.
