A new Connacht Rugby sports seminar aims to encourage women to make the most of the opportunities presented by sports and fitness.
The inaugural ‘Women in Sport’ seminar is being organised in collaboration with Marian Earls Fitness, Connacht Women’s Rugby and the Galway Sports Partnership, and will take place at 10am on Saturday 10 August, at The Sportsground.
The seminar is a non-profit event organised by Connacht Rugby to raise awareness of necessary pathways and programmes for women in sport and fitness. Topics covered will include psychology, nutrition, physiotherapy and strength and conditioning.
Presentations will focus on common misconceptions associated with female sports participants along with guidance and direction towards improved educational and training channels.
Additionally, three top female international athletes will provide the audience with direct insight into high performance and their individual challenges to reaching their performance goal. Two-time Olympic athlete Claire Bergin, 2013 Six Nations winner Nora and Irish rugby sevens player Carol Staunton will give a unique insight into their experiences and lessons learned during their international careers in top level sport.
Anyone with an interest in sport and fitness is encouraged to come along for an educational afternoon and networking event. Admission is €25 on the day, or €15 for those who register before Tuesday, 6 August.
