CIPD Western Region will host a talk on Thursday 10 April in The Menlo Park Hotel from 6pm to 8pm.
The talk, entitled ‘Appreciating the assets of Aspergers and Autism in the workplace: insights from the SAP/Specialisterne Global Initiative’ is run in association with sponsors Matrix Recruitment and the Irish Association of Supported Employment (IASE).
German software developer SAP have partnered with Danish company Specialisterne, who help people with autism find technology-oriented jobs. Together, they have launched a global recruitment programme specifically targeting people on the Autism spectrum.
Speakers at the event will include Kristen Doran, Senior HR Business Partner and SAP lead on the Autism at Work Programme Ireland, Peter Brabazon, General Manager of Specialisterne Ireland, Padraig Ó Céidigh, Patron of IASE, and Michael McDonnell, MD of CIPD Ireland.
In addition, there will be information stands for employers from Enable Ireland, who will be demonstrating assistive technologies; the Department of Social Protection, who will provide information on adaptation grants, wage subsidy and internship; and EmployAbility Galway and their job coaches who provide support to employers when a person with a disability has been recruited in the workplace.
