A public health nurse by day, a lifeboat crew member by night, she's not quite Spiderman, but Olivia Byrne has a double life that can see her whipped from her bed in the middle of the night or pulled from the hairdresser's mid-highlight whenever her ?spidey senses' tingle, that is, when her pager goes off.

A student of marine science and zoology at NUIG, Kevin O’Hara did work experience at the Galway Atlantaquarium as a transition year student six years ago, and he hasn’t looked back since.

Last weekend was the high point of the Rusheen Bay Windsurfing calendar when Peter Hart (pro sailor and the top UK windsurfing coach) chose the flat waters and great wind to give a master class to Ireland’s top female windsurfers.

New rescue boat for Spiddal

A new rescue boat has been given the go-ahead for Spiddal. Éamon Ó Cuív T.D., Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs has sanctioned a grant of €10,800 for Cumann Seoltóireachta an Spidéil to assist them in the purchase of a rescue boat.

Galway Sub Aqua Club (GSAC) is an active diving club which has operated in Galway for over 45 years. The active members dive all year round: in winter once a week, while in summer every Wednesday evening and again on Sunday.
