Junior and adult sailing courses to run at GBSC

Galway Bay Sailing Club in Renville in Oranmore is to run Irish Sailing Association (ISA) Certified Level junior sailing courses at the club from Monday 7 July.

Clippers heading for Cork

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is due to arrive in Croshaven, Co. Cork on Monday, 30 June as part of the final leg of an epic ten-month journey. The race itself was the brain-child of Sir Robin Knox-Johnson, who established the first clipper race in 1996 and is currently chairman of the company.

With a childhood spent "mucking about in boats", it was inevitable that Sean Scott would end up involved in marine life, one way or another. Sean was brought up by the harbour in Portrush, Co. Antrim, one of the prettiest ports on the Causeway Coast. His father John was the Honorary Secretary of the local lifeboat station for many years, his mother Fay a leading light in the Ladies' Guild.

 
24-hour 'fishathon' for CRY

The Corrib Fishathon – the 24-hour 'catch a fish if he can' event for the benefit of CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) - will take place on Saturday 21 June at Kitts Bay at 12 noon.

The two Galway sailors from GBSC that travelled to Fenit at the weekend for the Tralee Bay Sailing Club Cruiser regatta came home winners.
