Preparations for the International Quilt Festival of Ireland – Ireland’s most unique quilt show, happening from the 7th to the 10th of June 2012 – are well underway, and we the organisers are looking for local Irish creative talent to present to our many international visitors, who are coming in their thousands from all over the world.
We have a number of ways that individuals or groups around the West can showcase their talents. Craftspeople and artists of all kinds can take a three-day retail stand in our Craft Market, which will be a central part of the festival, situated in the Concourse area of NUIG, which will be transformed into our Quilters Village. Space numbers are limited, and stands sell on a first come, first served basis.
Musicians who wish to perform at the festival and sell CDs can send us demos or links to Myspace/Facebook. Street performers and comedians are also welcome to apply. We’re also searching for literary-minded actors to take part in the festival, playing some of Ireland’s best-known historical figures and local “Village” characters – Nora Barnacle and James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, our Wicked Thimble Pub landlord, Molly Malone, etc – we’re open to suggestions!
For any questions or submissions for the festival, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information about The International Quilt Festival of Ireland, please visit www.iqfoi.com.
