Western floor covering prices beat ‘rip-off’ Dublin E-mail

In this age of ‘rip-off’ Ireland, many consumers have come to expect that good quality means a high price. However, a home wares shopping trip in Galway reveals that ‘rip-off’ Ireland doesn’t spread to the West, especially when it comes to value flooring. The high prices charged by Dublin floor panelling suppliers in comparison with the reasonable prices of the West were clearly and vividly exposed by Ciarán Byrne in a recently published article in the Irish Independent.
The price differences reflected in this piece were shocking and clearly highlighted the hikes being experienced by Dublin customers.

Take for example, standard solid oak floor panelling, which was quoted by Sligo suppliers at almost half the price than that of Dublin suppliers. It was a similar story with suppliers in other cities in the West of Ireland. Semi-solid wood floors started from €19 a square yard in the West, where in Dublin the cheapest seemed to be €30. The most shocking discovery was that it is €600 cheaper to floor three rooms and a hallway using West of Ireland suppliers than it is to floor one room and a hallway using Dublin suppliers.
