Galway based management consultancy Venture Advancement has announced the first instalment in its summer seminar season, which will feature Chief Executive of London's Acorn House Restaurant, Michael Pyner.

The seminar will take place on Tuesday, 20 May in the Glenlo Abbey Hotel.

Acorn House is London's first eco restaurant and one of the UK's most commercially successful charitable enterprises. Mr Pyner is a world-class leader in social enterprise having been involved in the award winning Mile End Park – a sustainable people's park for the 21st century - before establishing the Shoreditch Trust. He is at the forefront of a new breed of third sector people and organisations – charitable but commercially aware. This seminar will look at the current trends in social enterprise and charitable trading, explore models that work and suggest steps for those wishing to get started. The other speaker on the day will be Joe McKenna, Managing Director, Venture Advancement ; "Venture Advancement are excited to be hosting these events", said Mr McKenna. "We have chosen key themes for the season which mirror the work we do ourselves. Future events will focus on fundraising, strategic planning, organisational growth and communications".

The second seminar in the series will take place the following week, 27 May, and will focus on branding. Diana Ruano, a Spanish branding consultant, will provide a unique insight into the area of branding and corporate identity through case studies outlining her work all over the world in the arts, tourism and non-governmental sectors. This will be complemented by a presentation by Gillian Buckley, Chief Executive of the Western Development Commission who will speak about the creation, execution and ongoing development of the www.lookwest.ie brand. This seminar will look at the importance of effective branding in driving organisational growth.

There are a limited number of places left for both events. For further information or to register, log on to www.ventureadvancement.ie or phone Siobhán on 091-560492.
