Galway Airport has just celebrated its two millionth passenger. The lucky passenger, Mrs Catherine Morris, whose husband hails from Lackagh, Co. Galway, was about to board a flight to Manchester when she was picked out as the lucky passenger. Mrs Morris and husband Pat were travelling back to Sale, Manchester after one of their regular visits to her husband's homeplace in Lackagh, Co. Galway. The two millionth passenger prize included a bottle of champagne, two return flights on any Galway service and the lucky pair celebrated with airport staff over a glass of bubbly. Husband Pat, originally from Turloughmore, Lackagh emigrated to Manchester over 30 years ago. One of a family of eight, six of whom emigrated at the time, Pat now owns his own construction company in Manchester and Catherine works alongside him. Colin Lewis, Head of Sales and Marketing at Aer Arann, commented: "We are delighted that Galway Airport's two millionth passenger is a frequent flyer with Aer Arann. This is a tremendous achievement for the airport and given the growth of our operation in Galway in the last year, including the increase in the number of flights to London Luton, I'm sure it won't be long before the four millionth passenger walks through the door!" |
