Sweeney Oil, also known as Fate Park Limited, is owned by Blackshore Holdings Ltd, which also owns John Sweeney's property and hotel interests.

Sweeney Oil has six service stations located in Co. Galway, in Moycullen, Oranmore, Clifden, Inverin, Portumna and on the Headford Road in Galway city. They are currently under the banner of Statoil, which is at present undergoing a re-branding under the Topaz name.

Sweeney Oil operates primarily in Connacht and the Midlands and has a network of 20 service stations, operates a fleet of 70 trucks and employs in excess of 200 people. The business was established in 1987 and more recently operated under the Statoil brand.

John Sweeney, CEO of Blackshore Holdings Limited, commented, "We are delighted to be joining forces with ExxonMobil, the leading oil company in the world. The Esso brand is instantly recognisable and has been established in Ireland for more than 110 years. This agreement maintains our position as one of the leading independent oil distributors in the country and this is a great opportunity for Sweeney Oil and Esso to grow their businesses together."

The total rebranding investment will be in excess of €1 million and completion of the rollout is expected over the next six months.

Sweeney Oil has an annual turnover of over €200 million and Esso Ireland Ltd has an annual turnover of €850 million. Tony Parr, Chairman of Esso Ireland Limited, commented, "We are very pleased to be working with Sweeney Oil and look forward to a successful and long lasting commercial relationship with them. We believe that this new venture will greatly enhance Esso's representation in the retail service stations, heating oil and commercial fuels markets in Ireland."
