Galway's first Financial Solutions Skillnet course took place last week, with a good response from local financial services professionals.

Trainer, Evelyn Hanrahan, a specialist in Financial Services Compliance consulting and training stated; "It's great to see such an interest here in Galway and why not? Trainees get the opportunity to access courses and meet others who share the same concerns as themselves. Compliance is a tricky area and people take great comfort in hearing that others have the same concerns as themselves. Our course was full on Thursday and I envisage demand will continue to grow. The Regulator expects people to be fully compliant and for a small cost, Financial Solutions Skillnet helps make this possible."

Trainees were very enthusiastic too. DHKN's Nina Pilbrow commented, "We work closely with Evelyn on a one-to-one basis but spending a few hours with her and hearing from others in the industry is an entirely different experience. We are delighted because it's interactive, cost-effective and a very effective use of time."

Evelyn will provide regular compliance training as part of the packed programme of courses scheduled for the coming months. Other one-day and half-day courses will cover industry specific topics like product training, wealth management and marketing for financial services. Industry-specific business topics including strategic business development, time management and client relationship management are also scheduled.

Skillnets is a national organisation promoting training and networking in specific business and geographical sectors. It has facilitated the set-up of Financial Solutions Skillnet to address the need for local, industry specific training here in Galway.
