Twenty-four local businesses have been short-listed for the Galway Chamber Business Awards 2009 in association with VHI Healthcare. ![]() The Galway Advertiser, IRadio and Collins McNicholas have been shortlisted in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation category; Glenlo Abbey, Computer Troubleshooters and The Twelve have been shortlisted in the Customer Service category; Connacht Rugby, Galway Arts Centre/Cuirt and Junior Chamber International Galway have been shortlisted in the Arts/Sport/Culture category; Cold Chon, Thermo King and Castle Print have been shortlisted in the Environment category; Central Park Group, Park House and Lynx Transport have been shortlisted in the SME category; Cases Wine Warehouse, Galway Airport and Radisson SAS Hotel have been nominated in the Marketing category and Galway Technical Institute, Recruit Direct and AnthonyRyans.com have been shortlisted in the e-Business category; and Boston Scientific, H C Financial Services and National University of Ireland, Galway have been shortlisted in the Corporate Social Responsibility category. These finalists will now meet with the judging panel and the category winners, plus the overall winner, will be announced on the night of the President's Dinner on Thursday 25 June in the Galway Bay Hotel. Speaking at the publication of the shortlist, Chamber President Paul Shelly said: "We celebrate this vibrant spirit of Galway business entrepreneurship and innovation with the publication of this shortlist. It is a very real and tangible manner of recognising the contribution of organisations that strive to be at the leading edge and continually seek excellence in their respective sectors of activity with the Galway Chamber Business Awards." He said he was looking forward to presenting the awards following the entrepreneurial success that was the Volvo Ocean Race. "As well as thanking our partners in the Business Awards, VHI Healthcare without whom it could not happen, I would also like to thank our category sponsors: RDJ Glynn, Galway Airport, Failte Ireland, Galway City Council, Galway City Tribune, Discover Galway, Galway Technology Centre/e-Galway, Irish Greyhound Board."
