Nestled in the heartland of the fields of Athenry, the Raheen Woods Hotel has become Athenry’s premiere hotel for weddings, conferences, parties and Sunday lunch.  Constructed by Lester McNamara and Peter Gilhooley, The Raheen Woods Hotel opened its doors in 2005. Since April this year, however, the hotel has changed direction and focus under the watchful and trained eye of General Manager Frank Corby, Wedding Coordinator Carmel Barrett, Head Chef Paul Murphy and Bars’ Manager Paddy Farrell.

“We have a great team here with us at the hotel; all of the staff are completely focused on customer care. The hotel is really a family-orientated hotel, so the aim of the hotel and its staff is to make the customer’s stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible,” says Frank.

This modern hotel is designed with comfort and relaxation in mind. The high ceilings, light, bright colours and natural furnishings all add to the relaxed feeling. There is also a contemporary feel to the Clarin Bistro and McHales Bar. The Purple Lounge and Residents’ Bar are finished with soft leathers, solid oak tables and sharp red carpets, providing a fresh new feel to the hotel’s design concept, and making the venues the perfect place for christenings or birthday parties etc.

“McHales bar, with its full range of drinks and a super wine list, is a great place to meet for lunch and dinner,” says Frank. “Sunday lunches are proving more and more popular with our varied menu that incorporates country fair style cooking. There is also a continental side to the menu. So there really is something for everyone,” he adds.

The Raheen Woods Hotel is ideally equipped for wedding receptions. As a demonstration of its appeal, the hotel is heading towards its quota for next year already. “The beautifully appointed De Burgo wedding suite ready for guests’ needs on their special day. Carmel Barrett is the hands-on Wedding Coordinator at the hotel,  and she is at clients’ beck and call throughout the day, ensuring everyone, from friends to family to the bride and groom, gets the day they so deserve,” says Frank.

Conferences are another major part of life at The Raheen Woods Hotel. The hotel is just 15 minutes from Galway City, making it the ideal location for any major or minor conference requirements. “We have a unique boardroom on the second floor, with excellent natural light, HD ready plasma TV, wireless internet, direct dial telephone and full catering facilities. The Corncrake and Kingfisher conference suites offer the same facilities and can accommodate up to 45 delegates. The De Burgo Suite will accommodate up to 300 guests. So the hotel is more than ready to deal with all clients’ conference requirements” remarks Frank.
